Golden Voice of Indian Radio- Ameen Sayani







Ameen Sayani is a popular radio announcer from India. He achieved fame and popularity all across South Asia when he presented his Binaca (later cibaca) Geetmala program of hits over the airwaves of Radio Ceylon. Ameen Sayani ran the programme to record -smashing success for nearly 45 years, earning a place among the world's top broadcasters. He remains the most imitated announcereven today.
Ameen Sayani started his formal broadcasting career in 1951 with Radio Ceylon. He helped to popularise Radio Ceylon in India and the station ruled the airwaves in the 1950s and 1960s. The number of programmes he has compared, and been a part of, would be over 54,000, and the number of jingles over 19,000.
Ameen Sayani was also a part of various movies throughout the years like Bhoot Bungla, Teen Devian, Boxer, Qatl etc. He appeared in all of these movies in the role of an announcer in some event.
Ameen Sayani is still active in radio in India. He remains a "golden voice" of Indian radio.
He was conferred the Padma Shri award in 2009.
He was also awarded as PERSON OF THE YEAR Award in 1992 by LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS.
On 4th Feb, 1996 at Dinanath Mangeshkar hall, vile parle (Mumbai) a programme was organished by Hridyesh Arts to give tribute to Music Maestro Anil Bisbwas. There I got opportunity to meet Ameen Sayani Sir & also I took his autograph. He autographed to me in 3 different languages i.e. Hindi, Urdu & English.
